Barbara Dafoe Whitehead
Barbara Dafoe Whitehead writes on family and social issues for many publications. Her Atlantic Monthly article "Dan Quayle Was Right" was nominated for a National Magazine Award and won an EMMA (Exceptional Merit in Media Award) from the National Women's Political Caucus and Radcliffe College. She is also the recipient of an editorial award for Magazine Awareness of Global Issues and Concerns from Folio magazine and the Cowles Foundation for her Atlantic Monthly article "The Failure of Sex Education."
Whitehead earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, studied at Columbia University as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. She holds an honorary doctorate in letters from Lawrence University.
