Daniel Fischel
Daniel Fischel is the emeritus Lee and Brena Freeman Professor of Law and Business and former Dean of the University of Chicago Law School. He is Chairman and President of Compass Lexecon, and co-author, with Frank Easterbrook, of The Economic Structure of Corporate Law. He graduated from Cornell, Brown, and at the top of his class from the University of Chicago Law School, and served as law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart.
His areas of expertise are securities, corporation law, regulation of financial markets, and the application of the economics of corporate finance to problems in these areas. He has been cited by state and federal courts at all levels, including the United States Supreme Court. Fischel has given expert testimony on numerous occasions in federal and state courts, before arbitration panels, and in regulatory proceedings in the areas of securities, commodities, corporation law, regulation of financial markets, and the application of the economics of corporate finance.
