Tufts University School of Medicine
The only veterinary school in New England, and one of just 27 in the United States, Tufts has differentiated itself from other veterinary schools by developing five signature programs and three academic centers. The programs are: Ethics and Values, Wildlife Medicine, Equine Sports Medicine, International Veterinary Medicine, and Biotechnology. The centers are: Conservation Medicine, Animals and Public Policy, and Infectious Diseases and Nutrition. The school emphasizes new dimensions of veterinary medicine, such as ethics, human-animal relationships, and biomedical research. Tufts currently ranks among the top veterinary schools in the amount of funding it receives from the National Institutes of Health. As part of its effort to educate the public, Tufts is developing books for general readers. ANIMAL ER: Extraordinary Stories of Hope and Healing from One of the World's Leading Veterinary Hospitals was its first book.
